Knowledge Sharing Culture
Thirst For Knowledge
At Maybank IB, we see knowledge as more than just knowing or memorizing a fact. What is more critical is that our people have a firm grasp of the basic principles and concepts, and are able to apply all they have learned to synthesize new ideas and approaches.
Continuous learning is enshrined in the Maybank IB way. Maybank IB provides its staff with a myriad of learning resources. Maybank IB’s extensive resource center, together with our advanced research methodologies are essential instruments for our staff in their voyage of discovery and enlightenment.
To achieve continuous learning, we have a structured programme of knowledge management, with a pervasive and infectious culture of knowledge sharing. Such a virtuous circle of mutual learning and knowledge sharing is the very foundation of our profound work ethic of ‘collaborative efficiency’. Our tools and techniques include:
Investment Banking Apprenticeship Programme
Our new hires with less than 2 years work experience are equipped to face the challenges, stimulations and demands of a Maybank Investment Banker by undergoing our intensive, custom-designed orientation and training programme. This programme gives our new analysts a head start in building the core skills and knowledge required for a successful career in Maybank IB.
Sponsorship for Professional Qualifications
We are committed to giving full sponsorships to deserving staff to pursue their professional qualifications. We sponsor the course, examination and material fees for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualifications. Maybank IB is one of a select few non-accounting firms that are an Authorized Training Organization (ATO) for the prestigious ICAEW qualification in Malaysia.
In-House Training
On a weekly basis, there are at least 2 in-house training sessions, aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the analysts on finance and imparting financial modeling skills. The training sessions are based on real world financial cases and are more than just text-book knowledge. The trainers consist of Team Heads, Heads of Divisions and even the CEO himself. Our leaders’ commitment to spend time to share their experiences and impart knowledge are testament to our fervent belief in human capital development.
Latest Developments
Maybank Investment Bankers are required to be tuned in to the latest developments in the ever evolving financial sector. With this in mind, briefings and email updates are disseminated on a timely basis to ensure that everyone is kept abreast of the latest industry developments.
As we continuously evolve and improve our knowledge bank and knowledge infusion methodologies, more and more programmes will be introduced and the existing ones enhanced to grow in line with our talents’ continuous thirst for knowledge and the ever-changing needs of the financial services industry.
